10th international jazz festival will take place at various venues in Brno from March 29 to April 21. Opening concert of BOBBY McFERRIN will be broadcasted live by Czech Radio 3 - Vltava - tune in here from 7pm CET.
Among other performers are MICHAEL FORMANEK QUARTET, new band by outstanding American double bass player and composer with Tim Berne (alto sax), Craig Taborn (piano) and Gerald Cleaver (drums), who released their ECM debut album The Rub And Spare Change previous year (concert on April 13), Jaromír Honzák's nu jazz quartet FACE OF THE BASS, electro-acoustic sextet LIMBO - you can download their first two acoustic albums here (both on April 15), Swedish THE STONER with guest guitar player DAVID DORŮŽKA (April 16), quintet of fantastic Moravian singer and cymabalom player ZUZANA LAPČÍKOVÁ (April 18), trio of awarded double bass player TOMÁŠ LIŠKA with guitarist David Dorůžka and Italian bandoneon player Danielle Di Bonaventura, VERTIGO QUINTET & DOROTA BAROVÁ (both on April 19) or trio of noted American drummer DAN WEISS with Jacob Sacks (piano) and Thomas Morgan (double bass), and more. All in all, highly inspiring gathering of international and Czechoslovak jazz acts.
